International conductor Libi Lebel will return to Brazil on August 9, 2026, to lead the Orquestra Sinfônica de Goiânia at Teatro Basileu França in an all-Russian program featuring Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, accompanied by immersive live art by Brazilian artists; and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3, featuring acclaimed Brazilian pianist Diego Caetano.

The concert will mark Lebel’s third guest-conducting appearance with the orchestra, continuing an artistic collaboration that began with her debut in May 2025.

Lebel most recently returned to Goiânia in March 2026 for a special concert presented in recognition of International Women’s Month. The all-French program featured Lili Boulanger’s D’un matin de printemps, Camille Saint-Saëns’s Piano Concerto No. 5, and the Brazilian and South American premiere of Charlotte Sohy’s Symphony in C-sharp minor, “The Great War.”

The March performance was met with an enthusiastic audience response and a standing ovation. One review described Lebel’s leadership as defined by “rigor, sensitivity, and a strength that did not impose itself—it revealed itself,” highlighting her ability to shape both the musical interpretation and the collaborative energy of the performance.

Born in the former Soviet Union and raised in the United States, Lebel brings a personal connection to the Russian musical tradition, as well as extensive experience conducting this repertoire internationally.

Her return to Brazil reflects her growing international presence and her commitment to programming that combines major symphonic works with distinctive artistic collaborations and historically significant repertoire.

“I am honored to return to Goiânia for my third appearance with the Orquestra Sinfônica de Goiânia. While my Portuguese is limited, the musicians understand my passion and spirit through the music, making our connection feel natural and authentic.”
