Justyna Zańko Returns to Oxford for Three-Concert Solo Violin Series Across the City’s Most Celebrated Spaces
Following Her Acclaimed Oxford Debut in March, the Polish Violinist Brought Her Artistry to Wesley Memorial Church, St Mary & John’s, and St Barnabas Basilica — May 28–30, 2026

Polish violinist Justyna Zańko returned to Oxford in May 2026 for a three-concert solo violin series, presenting recitals across three of the city’s most architecturally and acoustically distinguished venues: Wesley Memorial Church, St Mary & John’s Church, and St Barnabas Basilica.
The return visit followed Zańko’s acclaimed Oxford debut in March 2026, when her solo recital at Holy Trinity Church, Headington Quarry drew enthusiastic praise from critics and audiences alike. Oxford Prospect Arts described her playing as offering “immense variety and contrast,” noting “the energy and virtuosity of her performance” and her “adventurous, extrovert approach” to the instrument — concluding with a clear invitation: “We hope there will be more opportunities to hear her play in Oxford.”
Three months later, Oxford got its answer.
The series opened on Thursday, May 28 at Wesley Memorial Church on New Inn Hall Street — one of Oxford’s finest examples of 19th-century neo-Gothic architecture. Built in honour of John and Charles Wesley, the church’s soaring interior, luminous stained glass, and natural acoustic created an atmosphere that was both intimate and monumental, allowing the violin to unfold with clarity, depth, and expressive nuance.
The series continued on Friday, May 29 at St Mary & John’s Church, Cowley Road, where Zańko presented a programme of significant technical and interpretive depth, performed in support of the Church Tower Restoration fund. The programme spanned three centuries of solo violin writing:
The series concluded on Saturday, May 30 with Intimate Violin Sessions at St Barnabas Basilica — a deliberately boutique finale, with seating intentionally limited to preserve the sacred, quiet connection between the violin and the breathtaking architecture of the Basilica.
Justyna Zańko has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Mozarteum Salzburg, and is Artistic Director of VirtuClassic and President of the Virtuoso Music Foundation. Her return to Oxford marked a significant moment in a growing international presence — two engagements in the same city within a single season, with audiences calling for more.
